The United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) was created in 2005 and is tasked with reducing tensions between different cultural and religious groups. The Committee explores the polarization of immigrant and refugee populations, trying to assess how tensions arose and what measures can be taken to improve cross-cultural dialogue. Most importantly, the committee seeks to reduce the conflicts in the world by promoting a more tolerant and peaceful global culture. The UNAOC has highlighted several methods for developing more tolerant societies including engaging youth, improving immigrant experiences, and reducing hate speech in the media.
