With all of the Model UN conference available, it can be hard to choose which to attend. At RUMUN, we pride ourselves on the full package. We select our committees and topics based upon the events of today. Our topics have the right level of controversy to promote lengthy debate and innovative solutions. While the specific topics change each year, one thing doesn’t: RUMUN will never have a fantasy committee. While literature like Harry Potter or The Hunger Games might make for good reading, they don’t make for good Model UN experiences.
Our staff receives countless hours of training — not just to be good committee directors, but to be educators, to be mentors, and to be facilitators of a truly enriching experience. They will arrive on committee on time, and will work individually with students to ensure that each gets the most out of the conference experience.

In the Model UN world, there is a broad spectrum of delegates — the student who is attending a conference for the very first time, the one who attends five conferences each year, and everything in between. And we know that you, the Model UN advisor is busy. You already have a lot on your plate, and the last thing you want to do is register for a conference, find a hotel and make reservations, pay deposits, and everything else that is traditionally involved in a conference. At RUMUN, all you have to do it log into the conference website, enter your student information and hotel rooming lists, and arrive at the conference. When you arrive, we’ll hand you your room keys as soon as they’re available, and the conference experience begins. We do the work for you — so there’s less stress for you!

2) Location, Location, Location
Unlike many other collegiate conferences, RUMUN is actually in the heart of the Rutgers University campus. We believe that by making the connection to Rutgers and RUMUN, the students are immersed in a professional environment that cannot be matched. Since the conference is held on campus, there are plenty of dining options for students to explore. Instead of being held up in the hotel and get a dining plan, students have the freedom of choosing what they would like to eat. Students have the basic options like Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts for breakfast or Chipotle for lunch and dinner to more local options like Panico’s Brick Oven Pizza or the world famous Rutgers Grease Trucks. The location of RUMUN is able to serve up something for everyone.
New Brunswick is also easy to get to. Located in Central New Jersey, the city is just 30 minutes from Newark Airport, and an hour from mid-town Manhattan. Just five minutes from the conference site, the New Brunswick Train Station offers service on Amtrak and New Jersey Transit, making side-trips to the United Nations, New York, or Philadelphia easy and inexpensive.
3) Social Events and Conference Workshops
Instated at RUMUN two years ago, we provide students with workshops to improve various skills. Workshops like resolution writing, public speaking, promoting activism offer students yet another avenue to improve their skills for the future – both Model UN and in their professional lives. In addition to the Workshops, RUMUN offers enough social events that everyone at RUMUN will feel at home. From the huge delegate dance to the relaxing “hang out,” no matter what the students social preference is, they will be able to find a way to enjoy themselves and unwind after a long conference.
