ConnectMUN 2020

Welcome to ConnectMUN!

ConnectMUN 2020 will take place on December 5th and 6th entirely online.

ConnectMUN is IDIA’s newest Model United Nations conference. Designed to provide students the opportunity to continue their MUN experience even as the global pandemic limits large in-person events, ConnectMUN will take place entirely online and through IDIA’s virtual conference portal. 

Just like RUMUN and our other flagship programs, ConnectMUN will provide the same in-depth topic briefs, well-trained staff, and small committee sizes. IDIA has partnered with Classrooms.Cloud to create a fully-featured event portal where students will be able to connect with their chairs and fellow delegates through video, while still taking advantage of timed speaking sessions, digital note passing, and more. Like all IDIA events, ConnectMUN will be staffed by Rutgers undergraduate students, and will feature the same in-depth topic briefs that delegates have come to expect.

Unlike most IDIA conferences, ConnectMUN will take place through our virtual conference portal. The system is based on Zoom and outfitted with helpful MUN-specific features including a speaking timer and direct messaging system. 

All participants will need a free Zoom account and high-speed internet access to participate. Delegates should test their Zoom setup prior to the conference to ensure it is working properly.

After registering for ConnectMUN, advisors will be provided with information regarding how delegates can log in to their committee room.

The conference will take place on Saturday, December 5th and Sunday, December 6th, 2020. 

 

December 5, 2020:

9AM-12PM: Committee Session I

12PM-1:30PM: Lunch Break

1:30PM-3:30PM: Committee Session II

 

December 6, 2020:

9AM-12PM: Committee Session III

12PM-1:30PM: Lunch Break

1:30PM-3:30PM: Committee Session IV

 

Awards will be announced at the end of Committee Session IV, within each committee. 

As an IDIA-sponsored conference, IDIA adheres to a uniform set of rules governing participant conduct, debate style, and awards. Additionally, IDIA has adopted special protocols for this online conference. Note that all usual conduct policies remain in effect, where applicable. ConnectMUN costs $30 per student. An invoice will be generated and emailed to you once you complete pre-registration and final registration for the conference on idia.net. There will be no refunds after Nov 15, 2020, should you need to drop numbers or cancel.
